Mid-Century refers to the design era following the ultra-glamorous Art Deco period of the 1920's and 30's, the great depression and World War II. It was a time for clean lines and open spaces. The mid-century era was highly influenced by the need for speed, time management and space exploration. There were interiors themed toward the stars and chandeliers named after satellites. Gone were the heavy drapes and fully upholstered furniture of the past. A new, cleaner and lighter approach to interior design and decoration was on the horizon. Is it any wonder that at a time when we've faced the indulgences of the 80's and 90's, the events of September 11, 2001, a long and drawn-out war and the worst economy since the great depression, that we once again look to clean lines, open spaces and the fast track to the future? Welcome to Mid-Century Modern Decor, your link to the past and gateway to the future of home decoration.
